Nicholas Hammond has been on the fringes of the news recently as he helps promote a new book written with and about his fellow SOUND OF MUSIC co-stars who played the Von Trapp children. In the late seventies, though, briefly, Nicholas Hammond was THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN in CBS surprisingly lackluster TV translation of same.
Yet another Marvel comic to tv translation that disappointed me in my youth. From Captain America to Dr. Strange to Herbie the Robot to Spider-man and his Amazing Friends, they just couldn't get it right. On the other hand, I did enjoy The Incredible Hulk, but changing "Bruce" to "David" angered me at the time. Likewise, I enjoyed the DC adaptions including Superman the movie and Linda Carter's Wonder Woman. But then I wasn't a DC comics fan, so maybe having no expectations helped.
